Holiday Mood

Yeay, it's my second last day of working for this year, my last one would be next Monday, and after that I'm off for the year. I didn't realize how fast time flies, without realizing here it is 2008 is coming whether I like it or not. 2008 is the year I'll turn twenty toot (are those crow's feet i see on my eyes?? :P)Maybe I should re-read "Who Moved My Cheese" again before 2007 ends.

New Year's this time around I guess I'll just be at home, curl in bed watching Brothers and Sisters and have a good night sleep :) New Year reminds me of me, mel and hernie's New Year in 2002. We were celebrating New Year at Big Ben waiting for the clock to tick 12 am. Then after the countdown, while people were trying to go back home or where-ever they were heading, suddenly all of us were being pushed into one direction by the people behind us, heading God knows where. We could barely walked, we moved because we were being pushed! Being the petites we were (still are), of course it was kind of scary, with all the drunken people around. Even worse, one of us was kissed by a drunken stranger that night. Yikes. A first kiss by a drunk stranger, that doesn't sound romantic at all. It was certainly a memorable New Year's eve experience.

I plan to watch alvin & the chipmunks ( re-live the 90s-oh, and I was Theodore ).

I might not be able to update these coming weeks. I'll be at home eating ginger bread and opening pressies ( I hope I'll get one!).

Have a joyful Christmas and a fabulous New Year!!!

Christmas Wonderland

"I don't want a lot for Christmas
There's just one thing I need
I don't care about the presents
Underneath the Christmas tree
I just want you for my own
More than you could ever know
Make my wish come true
All I want for Christmas is...
You ..."

New Year’s Resolutions…

I know… I know… It’s just early December, and here I am starting to make a list of New Year’s resolutions, when I could barely remember what were my 2007 resolutions… I’m sure it has anything to do with…. hmmmm… hmmmm… it must be something.

As someone who has a temper like me, I could be easily ticked by horrible traffic or even inconsiderate people, so I guess one of my new year’s resolution is to have a bigger heart and more patience, be it irresponsible drivers on the road, no-parking and horrible traffic in kg Air area, or inconsiderate or rude people who I encounter at times. So, the key is I guess to take long breathes in and just try not to curse or lose patience (it is so hard to not lose patience when it’s 38 degrees outside) even when I’m boiling 100 degrees inside. It’s like the ad in mix-fm, how many times have you lose your temper, just because you snapped?

Have a healthy lifestyle. Meaning less coffee… More plain water… More fruits and vegetables… Take the stairs instead of the lift… Maybe join a gym/class… I’m sure all of these would give me my energy back, and bye-bye to lethargy and occasional nausea…

Spend more time important people in my life instead of spending time with two-dimensional people and also keep in touch with old friends.

Be financially wise. Which is hard for women (opss… sorry for generalizing. I guess this is an issue for men as well). This means less shopping including those cutesie stuff for my little nieces. I swore I tried not to shop, but those pink little boots just screamed, “Get me!”. And cut down expenses in the drugstore, I know I always have excuse to get a new pink blusher or a new moisturizer, then when I get home, I realized I have 5 different types of moisturizer. Blame it on the hormonal urges, heheheh… While most of getting-married friends are saving for the wedding fund, it doesn’t mean I don’t have to save for my single-in-the-city life :D Quoting from Rich Women: A book on investing for Women; Money is not the most important thing in the world, but it affects important things in our lives (e.g. health care, education, oh and not forgetting a lavish wedding.. heheheh)

Will add more to this list ...

to hobby... or not to hobby....

Since I have started working, I have experienced transition from college-days to work-days. During college days, non-lecture hours were spent either finishing assignments, watching telly, hanging out with friends or friendster-ing (hehehe). Now, with the new work schedule, I have free time from 6pm onwards... I have always wanted free time that I can do whatever I want and whenever I want. But not being used to having free-time, at times I have trouble figuring out what to do with free time. I mean I can't possibly go out every night, can I? I mean hanging out at coffee shop talking every night, that would be a bit costly and a tad too much. Which makes me wonder, I think all hobbies involve in some investment in some way. Especially when your hobby is shopping (opsss.. guilty as charged). I would somehow treat shopping as a medicine to my wounded soul. Hehehe... It worked, try it...

So basically I came up with list of things that can be done (either after work or weekend)
-Jogging/Exercise -with the current rainy-cold weather, I would rather spend indoor sipping hot tea and eating lekor.
-Reading - from my last visit to the library, I would say, borrowing a book is not so bad, rather than buying a RM35.90 book every month. Unless if it's a classic book, that you re-read many times.
-Sharpening culinary skills (or I should write as 'basic cooking 101' :P)
-Blogging - especially for those who want to earn more money by sponsored blogging
-Glue to the telly

Do share what you do on your free time....

Oh, by the way, is it too early to make 2008 resolutions? (Especially when 2007 resolutions is no-way halfway complete).

Zen-ning

Guess where I went during lunch break??? Guess... Guess..... I went to Crest Moment!!! Last month, GoShop had a contest where they offer Crest Moment voucher and my sister was lucky and won the contest. Apparently one of my colleagues get lucky too. The voucher is for a Shiatsu Body massage and hand treatment or Foot reflexology and hand treatment. Unfortunately my colleague couldn't go today (the last day is today!), so she gave it to me rather than letting it go to waste.

I reached Crest Moment, which is located at Warisan Square around 12.50pm. I went straight in, and gave them my voucher. The staff there welcomed me with a cup of hot tea. I think it might me chamomile tea, a good tea for relaxation. She then asked me whether I would mind having a male therapist attending me. I then said it was ok, since I would be fully clothed during the massage.

He then showed me the spa room. It smells like orangy-musky thing.. Maybe it's ylang-ylang or rosemary (isn't that a herb for cooking?) or something else. But it was definitely awakening. They had a relaxation song at the background, which you would only listen if you have insomnia.. I then laid down on my stomach, and my body was covered with towels (hey, I was fully clothed yea!). The therapist then gave his shiatsu massage, which he pressed and massage the pressure points of my body. It wasn't as relaxing as traditional body massage, but maybe with the dim surrounding, smell of aromatherapy and the touch of healing, I was in zen right-away. I think at one point I almost fell asleep during the massage.

After he was done with the massage, then he proceed with the Hydro Hand Therapy. I had no idea what's for, I guess to make my hands smoother from all the housework and cooking (yea, right!) I've done. He massaged my hand with some kind of oil, and then I had to dip my hands in warm wax, then wore moisturizing gloves. It lasted for 10 minutes, and in the meantime he massaged my scalp. I think it was during this time I fell asleep, until he said "Miss, the treatment is done". Awhh... I wish it lasted for a little while longer....

It was a bliss to get away from the noises, bright computer screen and work even though it lasted for an hour only. Women love being pampered. Pls pamper us like princesses ;)

post-raya

Burrrrpp... ate too much food during raya. Almost every day I went to open house or my mum would cook some raya food at home. I bet if I lost 2 kgs in fasting month, I've gained it all back with some extra kgsss...

I've started working yesterday, and oh boy how I love school holidays and the post-holiday. I'm assuming a lot of people still on leave, since it only takes me 40 minutes to reach work today (usually it could reach 1 hr++)... Even tho I'm at the office, my heart is still at home, sleeping and resting, and holidaying...

On another note... I'm on a very-slow-narrowband which drives me crazy. Here are the things I hate, slow internet (darn!), slow driver on the right lane, stupid mini bus drivers who stop without signals and... Because the internet is kinda slow, I'm subscribing to google readers for my blogs! Now I only go to one site to check out updates from fellow bloggers.

Eghk. work is depressing. I'm gonna go shopping in 10 minutes (yeyy)..

Later peeps... Enjoy all the rendangs and ketupat while it lasts.. But don't worry raya qurban is two months away !!!

Honesty the best policy?

Is honesty the best policy? It depends, sometimes it could be no... Some things are best kept to yourselves for few reasons. One of them is to make the other person feels better. Well, technically you're not really lying if you don't say it, right? Although, I think people call that lying by omission. So that said, certain things are best left unspoken. You will feel better, other people feel better, plus, saying it out loud makes things more real than they are.

monday talk...

I'm trying to imagine on how one could hate another so much... So what do you do? Not talk to that person ever? Can one find closure by doing that? Will one get peace from pretending that person does not exist? Or maybe if you hate someone so much you should spread terrible rumors??? My theory is maybe hate comes from frustration and anger... I heard people say that women forgive but never forget? I guess it's true. Not forgiving is a way of punishing a person. If it were me, maybe I'll feel guilty for 3 months after gazillion of apologizing, but after that, I guess I won't ever bother to care. That's what I say now, but if it does happen, who knows...

On another note,Raya is less than one week away. Unlike last year, this year I've decided to take extra off-days just to be at home and eat high-cal cookies and cakes. Lucky for Lana, she can eat whatever she wants!!! I heard (actually I watched it on channel E!) that BF alone burns 500 calories! That's like 1.5 hours of running!!!

Happy Raya to Mel who will be spending raya abroad again this year! p/s: Please buy me those yummy chocolate covered pretzels.

What I'm writing might be incoherent, this is what happened when you write your blog at 4.30pm in Ramadhan month ;)

tv-talk: I am investing my time on new tv shows: private practice, pushing daisies, gossip girl, and dirty sexy money. How come in tv, they always seem to have a solution at the end of each show?

What is your monday like?

teen drama

one of my guilty pleasures is watching teen-soaps... yes, i've watched beverly hills 90210, dawson's creek, the oc, one tree hill and now.... i'm watching gossip girl!

"Gossip Girl is an American television teen drama based on the popular novel series of the same name written by Cecily von Ziegesar. Gossip Girl revolves around the lives of socialite young adults growing up on New York's Upper East Side who attend elite academic institutions whilst dealing with sex, drugs, and other teenage issues."

Halo.. is happening...

Is halo (hayden + milo) really a couple? Check this video out. It was taken on the post-emmy party...

If they are a real couple off-screen, that's gonna be a bit weird, since they're practically on-screen, uncle and niece :|

satc comeback....

It's official. Sex n the city is coming back to the nearest cinema near you. Although I have doubt that it will pass Malaysian Cinema, but there's always torrent right? (*wink*).

photo from popsugar

And all the guys from satc shows have been rumored to come back to play as other halves for the girls. So, what do you think? What do you expect?

vote...

Oh... this is not for the upcoming election. As you know (or not), Milo Ventimiglia is the new hottie from Heroes. He was with Alexis Bledel, and after awhile being together, they've broken up... They were such a cute couple...

Now, during the post-emmy party, Hayden (who had broken up with Stephen Colleti-a no-star from reality show-Laguna Beach) had been seen being flirtatious with Ventigmilia. You think they make a cute couple?

to travel or not....

Traveling - I guess I have to stash that away now. Even with quite reasonable air ticket from Air Asia to Asean Countries, I find it quite hard to make time to travel and see the world :(

Of course in college it was sooo much easier, everybody has the same semester break, so travel arrangement can be made waaaaay in advance. Usually December travel was made in October while summer travel was made in March. Now, with the unpredictable work schedule, it is hard to make travel arrangement when the travel date is 6 months in the future. Plus, it's quite hard to synchronize the traveling date with your travel buddy. Maybe I should be courageous enough to travel alone. Yikes, it's too scary... Maybe it's another reason to get married, so that your husband is obligated to accompany you travel (even though he doesn't want to). Heheheheh.....

Oh... and here's another reason to get hitch, they let married people go home early in Ramadhan as early as 2.30 (for those who start work at 7.30am). The singles can only leave at 5, which would get home at 6, like 20 minutes before "buka puasa". I guess cooking is out of the question. Plus, there's nothing wrong with contributing to the local economy by buying food at Pasar Ramadhan :)

Anyway... Selamat berpuasa peeps...

wishing... and hoping....

It's Monday, so I'm just gonna ramble on some random stuff. I went 15 kms away just to buy some women supply for RM4... Such a waste of time and fuel huh? Seth Haiqal is such an adorable cute baby... mummy+daddy lanotz are very lucky... Although, I wanna say good luck with upcoming sleepless nights :p

There are things worth waiting for, and if you're included in one of them, I guess you are a lucky star...

I have a superstitious belief that I need to rely on my instinct. During school days, I'd relied on my instinct most times on which day not to skip classes. Whenever I had a bad feeling, I figured it was actually a good time to go to class. So, when recently I ignored the bad feeling, something not good kind of happened. Thus, I'm following LC's advice, go with your guts, but use your head (Gosh, I'm taking advice from 21 years old reality tv star!!!) Speaking of LC, do you know how much she's being paid for sipping coffee, girl-fighting, clubbing at Le Deux and talking about boy drama: 10-15K per episode!!! Me, I'm cursing in front of PC 5 hours a day trying to do some work, and I am being paid... very ... very ... small fraction of that... That's so unfair...

Oh and another thing, PMS women should just stay at home (not out) and spend time obsessively cleaning their fridge and organizing the pantry. Trust me, that would take their edge off.

Also, advance bon voyage to someone who will fly off to far-away land...

I'm off... Good night peeps....

Lazy Struck

I'm on a lazy struck... Been too lazy to update this blog. I have started to wear thong to work (the slipper ok, not the p@nty!!!) because it's easier to climb up to the second floor. And... because I've been satay-ed under the hot sun for few days, my skin has started to peel off (darn sunburn!). Anybody knows tricks for sunburn? Thus, I'm abandoning my beloved mac makeup cause makeup on a peeling skin is a no-no. It's ok though, cause I can use some extra zzz in the morning.

Anyway... advance congrats to couple Lanotz for their baby boy... Seth Haiqal Mohd Helmi... Welcome to parenthood!!!

books to movies...

Upcoming movies (adaptation from books)

1. Nanny Diaries
It's a fun and light book to read. In the movie which will be released on Aug 24, Scarlett Johanson will be taking the Nan role.

2. Time Traveler's Wife
I haven't read this one, but people say it's a good book to read. Eric Bana will be the husband, Henry De Tamble who has a genetic disorder which makes him be able to travel through time (kinda like Hiro of Heroes), while Rachel McAdams (i love her!) will be the wife,Clare Abshire.

3. My sister's keeper
I LOVE, LOVE this book!!!! From PopSugar insanely addictive celebrity goss, it stated that Cameron will be taking the role of Sara Fitzgerald the mother of Anna, Kate and Jesse Fitzgerald.

4. The lovely bones by Alice Sebold

This movie is still in production. Stars including Rachel Weisz and Ryan Gosling(*gasp*) as the parents of Susie.

you can make a difference....

Sigh... Had another long day today... It's Monday, so I guess everybody has his or her own very long day...

Weekend was uneventful. On Saturday, like my normal routine, I would go back to my parents house which is 50 km away (it's not that far!) . When I drove home, it was already dark outside. While I was driving, I tried to change the radio channel, then suddenly I hit something on the road. Not something big, just something small that made my car skidded like 5 inches or so. And my car even had that skidded sound! My heart was beating so fast after that, since I was caught off guard. Not only that, halfway through, it started raining super heavily until I could barely see the road :( So, I had to drive with a speed of 40kms just to be safe.. By the time I reached home, I was super-tired with stiff and achy shoulders. Who knows that driving in super-dark street with super heavy rain can be that stressful?

I was traumatize by the whole experience up till I was sleeping. I even dreamt of running my car off to a lake that night, how scary is that! I think it was karma paying back of my evil and aggressiveness on the road. So today I've became a nice girl on the road and reduce my routine cursing on the road. Also, I won't be picking up phone calls when I'm driving. So if I haven't been picking up your calls, you know I am probably driving (or just an excuse to NOT pick up your calls :p)

Last week alone, I saw two accidents while on my way to work. Nothing major, just bumper to bumper accident, which probably can be prevented by watching their distance. Also, saw two cars getting summoned by the police traffic for hitting the red lights. Not a good time to go out and cruisin' around...

Last advice.. Remember these three words...

"Stop on Red."
You can make a difference....

On last note, check out this interesting link . It will give you reasons to treat your handbag like shoes and not to put your handbags on the dinner table/kitchen counter.

tva

I think there should be a tva (stands for tvholic anonymous)... I'm uj1, and i'm a tv-holic. Sometimes I think I spend way too much time with 2-dimensional people than 3-dimensional one :D Humans are 3-dimensional right?

Anyway... Here are old tv shows that I used to watch....

F.r.i.e.n.d.s
I love friends!!! It's a story about 6 friends navigating life in NYC. I missed the first few seasons when there were aired, but thanks to phynd (large campus network sharing), I got to catch up on some old episodes. It was aired every Thursday on NBC. I remembered watching season finale of season 8, most people were staying at barh, everybody screamed when Joey found Ross's engagement ring, and Rachel said "yes" because she thought Joey was proposing... Such a cliffhanger huh?
What I think about the season finale? Like how it should end. Ross & Rachel are together, Chandler & Monica got their adopted twin babies, Phoebe was married and Joey pursuing career in LA. Oh and because of Joey of friends, Had1 got his name, Hadi Joey :P

Dawson's Creek
I have a thing for teenage drama. Maybe I'm compensating for the lack of drama in my teenage years. Dawson's Creek, or I think it should be called Joey's Creek because most drama revolved around Joey anyway. It's the usual teenage soap of Dawson, Joey and friends. Surely the way they talked is very matured for teenagers. I don't think teens actually have that wisdom, or can be so articulate in conveying their thoughts. They will have that line, "we need to talk". Then, they would have a long heart-to-heart conversation about whatever issues they had in mind, and then ended it with hug. So much for real-drama huh?

My favorite characters are Jen & Jack. They're so cute together. No, they're not a couple, Jack is actually Jen's gay best friend, kinda like Will & Grace. For the whole 6 seasons, Joey had been battling with the Pacey-Dawson dilemma. She started with Dawson then, Dawson with Jen,then Joey with Pacey, then Dawson wanna be back with Joey. It's the usual love-triange/rectangle. In the end, after a heart breaking death of Jen Lindley (I think I cried when she died..sheeehhh.. It's just a teen drama uj1!!), Joey finally made up her mind to be with Pacey. Come on Joey, it took you 6 seasons to figure that one out!!!

Felicity
Thanks to Mel who introduced me to the show felicity. The show is about Felicity who went to NYU (at first to pursue her high school crush, Ben). The story revolves around Felicity and friends dealing with adjustment and all sort of crisis through college and moving into adulthood. It's another show with the love triangle, Felicity-Ben-Noel.

Will & Grace
Me and Con liked this show, kan Con? Heheheh.. It's a sitcom about Grace, an interior designer and her lawyer best friend, Will. Like described in tv.com, they actually have a bond together, more than friends, but less than lover. The twist is Will is gay. In addition to the two main characters, there are Jack, funny gay best friend of Will and Karen, sarcastic and spoiled.

Other shows :-
everwood - I know Sha actually liked this show! Marcia (Bree of DH) was in this show for few episodes
gilmore girls - yes, we love rory & lorelai. I don't know how they can talk so fast!
charmed - stopped watching the last season. It became boring after awhile. I liked it best when Cole (Julian McMahon) was in the show! He's adorable!!!
alias - another confusing show, but jennifer garner was kicking ass in that show. After watching the first four seasons, I've lost track of the rimbaldi, prophet 5 thing. Does anybody actually understand?

What's your past time tv shows?

Men & Women

i received this from Rina. Thanks Rina!

Men:

1. All men are extremely busy.
2. Although they are so busy, they still have time for women.
3. Although they have time for women, they don't really care for them.
4. Although they don't really care for them, they always have one around.
5. Although they always have one around them, they always try their luck with others.
6. Although they try their luck with others, they get really pissed off if the woman leaves them.
7. Although the woman leaves them they still don't learn from their mistakes and still try their luck with others!

Women:

1. The most important thing for a woman is financial security.
2. Although this is so important, they still go out and buy expensive clothes and stuff.
3. Although they always buy expensive clothes, they will still say that they never have something to wear!
4. Although they never have something to wear, they always dress beautifully.
5. Although they always dress beautifully, men hardly care.
6. Although the men hardly care, they still expect men to compliment them.
7. Although they expect men to compliment them, when men do, they don't believe it!

Greys Anatomy S3 Finale

I know this is very... very outdated.... I just finished watching my re-run of the GA season 3 finale. Summer Hiatus is great for re-runs :D

So here are my favorite takes and what to expect next season....

McDreamy & Meredith.
Didn't your heart almost melt when mcDreamy being all mushy and all? Quote:"Meredith, I do love you. Don't you see? Don't you understand? You're the love of my life. I can't leave you. But you're constantly leaving me. You walk away when you want, you come back when you want. Not everyone, not your friends, but you leave me. So, I'm asking you, if you don't see a future with us. Please... please just end it because I'm in it. Put me out of my misery."
Yes meredith. Please put me out my misery too! I hope next season McDreamy will be with somebody else, this Meredith/McDreamy drama has been dragging on since what, 3 years already???

Alex Karev & Jane Doe(Eva/Rebecca)Hopefully next season Alex Karev will somehow found his Eva back. It's nice to see him in his attentive and nice mode.

Funny eyebrow-less Christina Yang
Burke left Christina at the altar.... Isaac Washington was fired from the show because of his homophobic comment towards co-star T.R.Knight. More info here.
Upcoming expected regular character. She is Meredith step-sister, Lexie Grey.I'm soooo not a big fan of Izzie ever since she slept with George. He's married!!! Wait.. hmmmm... why do they always make the girls having affair/feeling with married men?

Next tx-shows marathon will be one tree hill. I know... I know.. it's a high school drama with over-matured-teenagers, but it's fun to watch... I am so glad that Dan is finally in jail. No matter where you run, guilt always comes after you....

travelogue

Thank you for the get well wishes, but I did not have eye surgery recently. It was couple months back. But thanks anyway :)

I was looking at old pictures, and it stirred some travel memories.

This picture was taken by the official travel photographer, Sha. This was me buying a crepe, and while i was posing for the camera, the guy actually was asking for payment. As you can see Mel was giggling looking at him :P

Look at the yummm-yummylicous Fauchon chocolate in Paris.

18+G

I know today is Friday, and I'm supposed to write about something happy, jolly, and uplifting since TGIF. Instead, I'm going to write something gross and possibly could make you nauseous. So, for those who have weak stomach, mmmm, maybe it's time to stop reading.

I had been a contact lens wearer since 2000, and continued until now. But I have no idea why my eyes have been acting very rebellious against me since I came back here. To quote history, I've had conjunctivitis and two Hordelom since then. I wonder if it's because they can't see hot men walking by anymore? Hehehehe. I sure hope that's not the reason.

I never had any surgery done (thankfully), until I had my Hordelom minor surgery. Hordelom is the clinical term for commonly known as stye or in malay, ketumbit. The old people say, you'll get ketumbit when you peep people or in other words, watch something that you shouldn't have. I guess now it's out there that I am a peeping tom. Hehehehe... The home remedy by old people is to wear a black string on one of your fingers, or rub gold on your eye.

That didn't really work out for me. So, I had two eye surgery done. First, the doctor would inject a local anesthesia on your eyelid, depending where the stye is. The moment he injects, you can actually feel like acid going through your eye area. It's that painful. For both times, I couldn't help but cried because it was painful. The worse thing is that you can actually see the doctor doing it on your eye because you have to keep your eye open during the entire process.

After 10 to 15 minutes, once the LA kicked in, the dr put a device on your eyelid to keep it opened while he digged up the good stuff. When he has the access, he cut through the affected area, and did the drainage (Warning:Do not click if you have weak stomach) with small little scoop-like equipment. During this, there would be red blood oozing out of your eyelid. This part wasn't that painful, just uncomfortable and gross. Thankfully, I had someone who's willing to hold my hand after the whole gruesome process :)

When the whole thing is cleaned up, you'll have the pirates bandage on your eye. So that's kinda cool.

Love your eyes!!!

rules and regulations...

I don't know why certain workplace still think women wearing pants/shirt are inappropriate or informal. If women can wear shirt and skimpy skirt, why are pants wrong? Maybe they're afraid the guys would feel emasculated or threatened by the world of alpha-female taking over them. Then, its not really the women's problem, isn't it?

When I first came back to KK, I was so surprised by the amount of aggressive, ruthless, impatient drivers on the road. But after two years under the bright sun of malaysia, I've become one of them! Hahahaha.. I figured that's the way to survive around here. Btw, driving with a speed of 60km/hr on a monday morning is considered NOT OK. Some people don't have the time to drive with a la....la...la..la... music in our head, we have to get to work, OK!!! Our punch card is waiting!

With my new office hour, I have to get to the office precisely before 8am. Even when I left at 730am from home, there's guarantee that I would reach office on time. Previously, I used to leave home at 8am and get to reach the office before 830am, and my old office is 5 kms away than my current one! Sometimes when I feel like I didn't have enough time or suddenly the traffic became unbelievable I would cheat on the road (cut through from the unused railway track) to get to my office sooner. It's horrible to be doing crime on a bright daylight. Of course while doing the "unlawful act", I had the thought of somebody's taking my picture, or maybe the police could be there and I'll be caught red-handed. Opssss....

Last night, I had another session of self defense class. I learn how to kick, elbow punch and some escape strategies. Oh and we got a preview of next week class, how to escape when a guy is lying on top of you (sexual assault). The techniques that he showed are from Jujutsu, basically you don't have to use your strength, just use your body weight to counter the guy. And from my preview, if the technique is done correctly on a real guy, I can see the guy would go home with a broken arm, twisted wrist, and strained neck instead of the big "O".

I'm off to get some lunch and coffee and be a lawful citizen..

various thoughts...

I need to keep my schedule book filled out so that I won't be out of my mind soon... I get bored with routine fast. So, I'm guessing I am in the category of non-committed person (if there is even such thing). Or maybe this could be adult ADD huh? I was thinking about various things, one of them is about how something can turn into sour/lukewarm/cold. How do you know when to call it quit or to keep going?

My friend ms Lana is 7 months preggie. I still can't believe how fast time flies... While I am at home doing god knows what all these while, lana is growing a human inside of her. I am excited to see how he(?) looks like :) Lana, are you having a baby shower soon?

Few friends from college are getting hitched this year. It makes me think of my primary school crush. I wonder if he is still cute :p

mission impossible...

There's nothing wrong with writing two entries in a day, right?

I am not joining the 7th Sutera Harbor charity run this year, which will be held on 7/7/07 at 5.17pm at lot 77, Sutera Harbor. So... I need new mission! After watching the show "renovate my wardrobe" on channel 77, Astro, I said to myself that's exactly what I need. Researching on closet organization tips, I have some idea in mind. First of all, have a place for everything, this would make searching for things easier. Like most girls, I store everything from the old days until now. ( I still keep hockey game stubs and movie stubs from RPI days). All of them have sentimental value. When I look at the almost fading prints on the movie stubs, I remember those were the days after hard days of signal & systems exams. While looking at the hockey ticket stubs, I remember the "let's go red" screams at Houston Field house. I'm a sucker for old memories :|

I am very protective of my belonging, so all books are being kept in my room instead of in the common bookshelf. Books are arranged by author and size. hardcover books with hardcover and paperback with paperback. English/Malay would be separate as well and college textbooks are safely kept in a box. Maybe I should have some sort of system for my books. or maybe that's a little too much, huh? Hehehe... I have 4 photo albums from RPI, plus another 2 albums that I just printed here. All digital pictures HAVE to be burned on to dvd or cd, chronologically. Who knows what might happen to hard disk right?

Clothes.... tricky for women... The idea is to organize closet by season. Okay fine, we don't exactly have 4 seasons here, but just use the concept as an excuse to keep your closet organized. Use the same hanger color so that it will look organize, and facing one way only (why do you think clothes shop look so organize?). If you want to be a neat freak in folding your clothes, use a standard paper (i previously used clip folder) as a standard measurement to fold your clothes. The turnout will be... your clothes will have the same width, and will look very very neat.

A tips from my friend mel is to arrange your handbag like you arrange your books :D For shoes... if you have way too many... you can put them in shoe boxes, stick Polaroid of the shoes at the side, and just stack em on top of each other.

This is a little too much huh... Where does the accessories go? Art supplies? Magazines? All-sort-of-creams? Mani/Pedi kit? Teddy bears? Gifts from people?

Oh.. and this is why I call it the mission impossible... or maybe I'm just an anal retentive person, huh?

financial iq..

It's my first week at my new job. It's not so bad actually. I get to reach home at 515pm everyday. That means, i can be a social butterfly at night, could be movie night on wednesday or bowling night on monday/thursday. Previously, I usually reach home at 640-700pm. Jogging is out of the questions since I was totally exhausted. Now, I'm putting exercise back in my daily planner :)

Since i haven't been assigned any task yet, i have the time to google and bloghop to many-many sites.. Then i found this website on raising your child's financial iq... I'm sure most of you have heard of the book "rich dad poor dad". Here are some basic lessons from the book...

"
1. The rich don't work for money. "The poor and middle class work for money. The rich have money work for them," he would say to me. The rich buy or create assets that work for them so they don't have to.

2. Why teach financial literacy? You need to understand the difference between an asset and a liability. An asset puts money in your pocket and a liability takes money from your pocket. The rich understand the difference and buy assets, not liabilities.

3. Mind your own business. Many people confuse their profession with their business. To become financially secure people need to mind their own business. Your business revolves around your asset column, as opposed to your income column. The rich focus on their asset columns while the poor and middle class focus on their income columns.

4. The history of taxes and the power of corporations. The Tax Code of the United States provides many vehicles for people to save on their taxes. Most of these vehicles are available to anyone but it is the rich who usually look for them and use them because they have learned to "mind their own business." For example an individual can utilize the tax advantages and protection provided by a corporation to get rich much faster than someone who is an employee or a small-business sole proprietor.

5. The rich invent money. Great opportunities are not seen with your eyes. They are seen with your mind. Most people never get wealthy simply because they are not trained financially to recognize opportunities right in front of them. The rich have learned to recognize opportunities as well as how to create them.

6. Work to learn--don't work for money. To become successful you must learn how to manage cash flow, systems and people. Being in the Marines taught me leadership and working in sales for Xerox taught me how to sell and how to accept rejection. All of these skills were important for my success. Look for jobs that can help you develop the skills of managing cash flow, systems and people rather than just pay you well.

anjappar restaurant review

Today, I was invited by GoShop to review a local indian restaurant, Anjappar Restaurant. My review will be featured in the "makan-makan" section of the GoLife. I'm psyched :D

When i first walked into the restaurant, i realized the nice and relaxing ambience. It is suitable for family or friends to just sit down and have a good meal. Me and few others were served papadum once we were seated. We were given some time to look at the menu, while waiting for the manager. When I looked at the menu, I can see variety of food served here and they are also reasonably priced from RM3-RM18. They have south indian cuisine, north indian cuisine as well as chinese indian cuisine. This is very educational since I didn't know that they have chinese indian cuisine.

After awhile, the manager came and introduced himself as mr joseph. He talked about the history of the restaurant. Apparently anjappar is a worldwide franchise restaurant. It has few franchise in singapore, middle-east, india, canada and few others.

He recommended the anjappar menu which has a little of everything. It's a value meal set that can be enjoyed any time of the day. The meal consists of basmasti rice, nan, papadum, lollipop chicken, soup, and also butter chicken. It is served with lassi as the drink. At first, when I tasted the lassi, it tasted a bit sour. It's yogurt, so it bounds to feel sour. But after second sip, I can taste the sweetness, and very creamy. The soup taste like chicken soup with strong spices flavor. Lollipop chicken is the appetizer, it is crispy on the oustide with marinated taste of spices. What I love is the butter chicken, it tasted like the chicken i used to have in troy :) It's very creamy. not spicy at all.very delicious to be eaten with the nice-smelling basmati rice :) This value meal is valued at RM15, so it's worth every ringgit. If you are a small eater, you can even share this with another person!

Here is my GoShop review form. This is what I wrote....

"I feel welcomed as soon as I stepped into Anjappar Restaurant. The customer service was good, they were more than happy to recommend me their popular dishes. Meals are reasonably priced to be enjoyed by customers. Food is delicious, you will feel satisfied and fulffiled after having a meal here!!!"
Okay it doesn't turn out to be exactly like the food taster review. I should have included the word scrumptious or orgasmic. Well, I'm saving those words for my future food review :)
I came back to the office feeling full, fulfilled and satisfied, emotionally and physically. Owh.. i guess i can say that the meal was kinda orgasmic huh? hehehehe...

It's monday.. again...

Weekend was great. I met with my girlfriends and just chit chat about everything and nothing. There's nothing better than girlfriends, gossips and cup of coffee :D
On Friday, me and girlfriends went to Pizza Ria which is in Damai, the environment is very cozy, suitable for family meal, or perfect for first date dinner ;p We had a taste of their lamb chop with black pepper sauce. The portion is a lot for one person and quite a generous amount for RM18.90. I found the gravy was a bit on the salty side, well maybe that's just me. But I loved the puccio turkey ham. Basically it's a crispy biscuit-like bread with turkey ham fillings+fresh tomato+salad with thousand island sauce. For the price of RM13.90, you can share this meal with another person, and it will leave you fulfilled.

After being ushered out from Pizza Ria (it was 1030pm), we went to Jesselton Point to have a good dessert and share some more gossips. Since there is a futsal place there, most of the cafes/restaurants close kind of late. I think it's a good place to hang out after all the shops are closed :)

Decision... Decision...

I am not a fan of making big decisions or any decisions in fact. I wonder if long run would help clear my head. Probably it would happen like in the movie, at the end of the long run, I finally had an idea of what to do. Or maybe shopping therapy would help (hmm.. i doubt draining my already low savings account would help). Maybe swimming ( hmmm.. well clearly that would help, if i do swim and accidently drown, that would solve all sort of problems, wouldn't it?)... I guess there's nothing else to do than get up, and just face the music...

Maybe instead of dreaming to be an alpha-female, I should stick to the ordinary girl dream. Spend an hour in front of mirror fixing my face, trying to get hitch with a super-rich husband, have kids and be a stay-at-home mom/madam tai-tai who spends her tuesday at the spa and wednesday doing her nails. Well... there's nothing wrong with dreaming right?
